The order a driveway sealcoat goes down

A sealcoat goes down in order: clean the surface, prime oil spots and fill cracks first, brush a border to cut in the edges, squeegee a thin even coat into the field, then let it cure before a leaner second coat — keeping traffic off. Thin coats are the whole game.

What this diagram shows

A four-panel walkthrough of driveway sealcoating. Panel 1: the driveway is blown clean, oil spots are primed, and cracks are filled and left to cure. Panel 2: a sealer border is brushed around the edges first so the field has a clean line to work to. Panel 3: a squeegee works a thin, even coat into the field, with a note that thick coats skin over and fail. Panel 4: after the first coat cures, a leaner second coat is applied and traffic is kept off — foot traffic 24 hours, vehicles 24 to 48 hours.
