Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Remodel Calculators ("the Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

These terms apply to all users — contractors, homeowners, students, and professionals — including both free and Pro account holders.

Pro Subscription Terms

The Pro plan unlocks additional features including: unlimited saved projects; cost breakdowns with editable unit prices; a Price Book to store your supplier rates; a Client Address Book to store and auto-fill client contact information; a business profile that auto-fills contractor forms; contractor document generation (quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and change orders); a markup tool to calculate client pricing from your cost; monthly business summary showing forms created, amounts quoted, and amounts invoiced; the ability to email contractor documents directly to clients; a client portal that generates a private shareable link so clients can view documents and respond Accept or Decline; canvas-based e-signature capture via the client portal (see E-Signature Disclaimer below); branded PDF export of any saved form; save-as-template and duplicate-form shortcuts; and custom Terms & Conditions presets saved to your profile.

Billing

• Pro is available as a monthly subscription ($12/month) or annual subscription ($99/year), billed in advance
• Payment is processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis
• Prices are subject to change with advance notice. Existing subscriptions will be notified before any price change takes effect

Cancellation and Refunds

• You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your dashboard (Manage Subscription → Stripe billing portal)
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain Pro access until that date
• We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law
• If your payment fails, your account will be downgraded to the free tier after a grace period

Account and Data on Downgrade

If your Pro subscription expires or is canceled, your account reverts to the free tier. Your saved projects are retained but limited to the free tier limit (3 projects). Saved contractor forms remain accessible to view but new forms cannot be created until you resubscribe.

User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, are used for fraud, or contain false information.

You may delete your account at any time. Account deletion permanently removes your saved projects, contractor forms, and profile data. Active Pro subscriptions should be canceled before deleting your account to avoid continued charges.

Acceptable Use

You may use our calculators and tools for legitimate construction planning, estimation, and professional purposes. You agree not to:

• Scrape, copy, or redistribute our calculator code, formulas, or Pro features without permission
• Attempt to overload, hack, or disrupt the Site's functionality
• Use automated tools to submit excessive calculation requests
• Share Pro account credentials to allow others to circumvent the subscription
• Remove or obscure copyright notices, affiliate disclosures, or disclaimers
• Misrepresent calculator results as professional engineering or architectural work

We reserve the right to block access or terminate accounts for violations of these terms.

Intellectual Property

All content on this Site — including calculator formulas, code, design, text, graphics, and contractor document templates — is owned by Remodel Calculators or its licensors and protected by copyright law.

Industry standards and building codes referenced (ACI 318, ASTM specifications, IRC, AIA G701, GA-216, etc.) are publicly available and not our intellectual property. Our implementation and presentation of these standards is proprietary.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our calculators or Pro features without written permission.

Affiliate Relationships

Remodel Calculators participates in the Amazon Associates Program and may include affiliate links to products. When you click these links and make purchases, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

All affiliate links are clearly marked. We only link to products relevant to construction and remodeling.

Affiliate relationships do not influence calculator formulas or results. Our calculators are based solely on industry standards and material specifications.

No Warranties

THE SITE, CALCULATORS, AND PRO FEATURES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not warrant that:

• Calculators will be error-free or produce perfectly accurate results
• The Site or Pro features will be available without interruption
• Calculator formulas reflect the latest code updates in your jurisdiction
• Contractor documents generated by Pro features are legally binding or suitable for your specific jurisdiction
• Results will meet your specific project requirements

You use the Site at your own risk. Contractor forms generated by Pro features should be reviewed by a qualified professional or attorney before use in binding agreements.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REMODEL CALCULATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Material costs from inaccurate quantity estimates
• Project delays, cost overruns, or construction defects
• Building code violations or failed inspections
• Structural failures or safety issues
• Disputes arising from use of contractor documents generated by our tools
• Lost profits, lost data, or consequential damages

Our total liability for any claim related to the Site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for a Pro subscription in the 12 months prior to the claim, or (b) $100 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability for consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law.

Your Responsibilities

When using our calculators and Pro features, you are responsible for:

• Entering accurate measurements and selecting appropriate material specifications
• Verifying results with licensed professionals before purchasing materials
• Confirming that materials and methods comply with local building codes
• Reviewing and customizing any contractor documents before using them in client-facing or legally binding contexts
• Ensuring client email addresses you enter are correct and that recipients have a prior relationship with you before using the Email to Client feature
• Only sharing client portal links with individuals who have a pre-existing business relationship with you and who expect to receive documents from you
• Determining whether the canvas e-signature feature satisfies legal requirements for your specific documents and jurisdiction
• Verifying that markup percentages, labor rates, and custom prices you enter in the Price Book or on forms accurately reflect your actual business pricing
• Consulting manufacturer specifications for actual product coverage rates and installation requirements

Third-Party Links and Services

The Site uses third-party services including Stripe (payments), Neon (database), Vercel (hosting), and Google (analytics and OAuth). Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of external sites linked from our calculators or blog posts.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service as the Site evolves or as legal requirements change. Material changes affecting Pro subscribers will be communicated via email. Updates will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.

Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Your Data & Client Data Ownership

Any business profile information, client names, contact details, addresses, and job site information you enter into Remodel Calculators remains your data. We store it on your behalf to provide the auto-fill and form-generation features of the Pro plan.

• We do not sell, share, rent, or use your business or client data for any purpose other than operating the features you subscribed to
• We do not perform analytics on your client lists or contact your clients directly
• Your client data is never visible to other users or other accounts
• You can delete your business profile or any saved project (and the client data within it) at any time from your dashboard
• Account deletion permanently and irreversibly removes all associated data, including your business profile and all client information stored with your projects

You are responsible for obtaining any consents required by applicable law before entering your clients' contact information into a third-party platform.

Email to Client: When you use the Email feature to send a contractor document to a client email address, the email is sent on your behalf using our email infrastructure. You represent that you have a pre-existing relationship with the recipient and that sending them a contractor document is expected and appropriate. We do not use client email addresses for any purpose other than delivering the specific document you request. You are solely responsible for compliance with applicable anti-spam laws (such as CAN-SPAM) in connection with emails you initiate through the platform.

Client Portal Links: When you generate a shareable portal link for a form, a unique token is stored and associated with that form. We record a timestamp when the link is first opened by the client (so you can see whether the document was viewed) and we store the client's Accept/Decline response. These records are accessible only to you and are deleted when you delete the form or revoke the link.

E-Signatures: When a client draws and submits a signature via the client portal, the signature image is stored as base64-encoded PNG data on our servers, associated with your form record. It is visible only to you. We do not process, analyze, or share this image for any purpose other than displaying it within your account. See the E-Signature Disclaimer above for important limitations on legal enforceability.

Data Collection

We collect personal data including account information, saved projects, and payment references as described in our Privacy Policy.

By creating an account or subscribing to Pro, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Remodel Calculators is registered, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these terms or use of the Site shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these terms otherwise remain in full force and effect.
