Metal siding net coverage vs overall sheet width — the number that sets panel count
Order metal siding against NET coverage, never the overall sheet width — and note the same corrugated panel covers 34.67″ in SMP but 37″ in PVDF. Panels per wall run = wall width ÷ net coverage, rounded up.
What this diagram shows
Four vertical metal siding profiles drawn in end-view section at one scale, each dimensioned twice. R-panel/PBR: 38-inch sheet, 36-inch net coverage. Seven-eighths-inch corrugated in a PVDF finish: 39-inch coil, 37-inch net. The same corrugated panel in an SMP finish: 37-inch coil, only 34.67-inch net — the same profile covers less because the SMP coil is narrower. Standing seam: 22-inch coil, 16-inch net, because about 6 inches of coil is folded into the seam. Overall width is dimensioned in gray, net exposed coverage in blue. The rule below reads: panels per wall run equals wall width divided by net coverage, rounded up.
